• Christ wants His disciples to know the signs that He was coming again:
1. Jesus description the first half of the Tribulation – Mark 13:5-13
2. Jesus description in the second half of the Tribulation – Mark 13:14-23
3. Jesus description at the end of the Tribulation – Mark 13:24-27

• We are living excitedly as we want to be carefully study the Bible prophecy as there are lot of things shaping up and forming that literal future events foretold.
• We are living in the Tribulation and we’ll never be in the Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
→ We are living in the Church Age or the so called the Age of Grace.
→ The Church is not Israel, the Church has not replaced, the church will not end the way things will end for Israel.
→ We will be raptured before the Great Tribulation happens (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
• Daniel predicted the seven year Tribulation period (Daniel 9:27)
→ God will pours out His wrath on a world that mocks God and rejects Christ during the period of seven year Great Tribulation. God sends judgment after another, it will really be a scary time on this earth.
→ God will also regather the nation of Israel before Christ second coming.
• We can see the four Jewish disciples of Christ namely Peter, James, John and Andrew were questioning Jesus while they were in Jerusalem (Mark 13:3-4) regarding the program of God for Israel on the future. This discussion is all about Israel and has nothing to do with the Church.
→ Here, Jesus discussed to His disciples the horrors events of the tribulation that would lead to His return.

DESCRIPTION IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE TRIBULATION
1. Many false Christ (Mark 13:6)
2. Civil, national and international wars. (Mark 13:6-7)
3. Earthquakes (Mark 13:8)
4. Famines (Mark 13:8)
5. Political arrest of those connected to Jesus Christ (Mark 13:9-11)
6. Family betrayals (Mark 13:12)
7. Hatred of any connected to Jesus Christ (Mark 13:13)
→ This was the beginning of the trouble, however things will turn to Israel for this nation Israel will face a very difficult condition during the Tribulation period. Difficulties are now going on in different continents and even in Europe. Few people realize that all the activities going on in Europe will eventually unite and turn against Israel. It was a prepared stage of event for it is being set right now.
→ Here Jesus words “but” in verse 14 refers to the other signs that will occur worldwide, there is one true sign for Israel. Jesus reveals and predicts what will happen to Israel in the Tribulation and He promises that at the end of
the tribulation, Jesus will return and will regather Israel as a nation and bring her to her land.
• What will happen to Israel during Seven year Tribulation:

I- ISRAEL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRIBULATION (Mark 13:14- 18)
• The discussion of Jesus to His disciples previously is what will occur for most part in the first half of tribulation.
However, something happens in the middle of the Tribulation that changes the entire action for Israel.
• There is one true sign that Israel had better know and be able to see contrasted to the other signs that will occur worldwide.
→ The Jewish people will be able to see something that will happen in the future that was predicted in verse 14.
→ It is called “THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATIONS.”
₌ Daniel mentions that phrase – Daniel 9:27; Daniel 11:31; Daniel 12:11
₌ Matthew mentions it specifically – Matthew 24:15
• In Daniel 9:27 - Some political leader will make peace agreement with Israel at the beginning of the seven year tribulation. But in the middle of the seven year period or 3 ½, that political leader will stop the peace agreement to do abominable things.
• In Daniel 11:31 - Daniel predicts that political leader will desecrate the Temple then the Antichrist and False Prophet will do away with the sacrifices.
• In Daniel 12:11 - There will be a period of 1,290 days or 3 ½ years plus 30 days starting when this event happens until the time when Israel is safe in her land.
• In 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 - According to Paul this political leader will sit actually in the temple of Jerusalem that will obviously be rebuilt and this leader will pronounce that he is God and forcefully decreed that he be worshipped as God.
• The four temples connected to Jerusalem:
1) Solomon built the first pre exile Temple (recorded in Kings and Chronicles)
3) Antichrist rebuilt the third Temple – (recorded in Dan. 9:27; Matt. 24:15; II Thess. 2:4; Rev. 11:1-2)
4) Ezekiel described the fourth temple which is the Millennial Temple (recorded in Ezekiel 40-48).
2) Herod renovated the Zerubbabel’s second post exile Temple (recorded in Ezek.1-6; John 2:20)
→ What we are discussing here is regarding the third temple that will be rebuilt and infiltrated by the Antichrist.
• If the Jews refuse to worship the Antichrist they will be killed – Revelation 13:15
• The antichrist will forcefully demand that all worship him and all receive his mark on their right hand or forehead if they refuse they will not are not allowed to buy or sell anything – Revelation 13:16-17
• This is called THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION.
→ The moment when the Antichrist sits in the Temple of Jerusalem and forcefully and powerfully demands that all must worship him or else they will be killed.
• In Mark 13:14 here in our passage Jesus informs His people in this passage that what we are discussing will truly occur and Jesus says when you see this Antichrist go into Temple in Jerusalem and “is standing” where he should not be standing, then Jesus says that all the Jews need to flee the area as fast as they can. Why? If they would not run away they all will be killed by the Antichrist. Look the phrase “let him that readeth understand.” This includes all who read this writing at any time. We can remember a near application to Jerusalem when Titus went in and destroyed it in A.D.70.; however, the Antichrist is also a far application for the coming Tribulation. Whoever read this needs to understand it.
• This man so-called Antichrist as his title, we believe that he is somewhere in Europe. Presently, he is alive right now at might be some small time politician. Ultimately, he will rise up and become the most powerful political leader who ever live in this earth. We can’t identify his name as of now.
→ In verse 14 it says “let him that readeth understand,” the Lord Jesus is saying you better to read and understand this sign because once this man surfaces, and when you are a Jew what you need to do is to focus on him and take immediate action.
• There are four warning given by the Lord Jesus to the living Israel.
     A. Warnings to those on a Housetop – v. 15
Mark 13:15 “And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:”
→ Usually the housetop roofs were flat and have an outside ladder or staircase it would be use an access. In case this event happens and you are on the roof never consider to go into your house to get anything, just get out of the house.
     B. Warnings to those in the Field – v. 16
Mark 13:16 “And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.”
→ To survive you need to consider a coat as your essential gear. But listen carefully, if you take time just to get your goat you would not survive. Of course you have a chance to live without your coat but no chance if you go back for your coat. Therefore if you are in the field, never go back just to get your coat, forget it and leave.
     C. Warnings to those pregnant or nursing a baby – v. 17
Mark 13:17 “But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in days!”
→ The word “woe” Greek word “ouai” (οὐαὶ) means an expression of grief or denunciation. Woe is the picture of the most severe disaster judgment of God.
→ The word “in those days” refers to the days of Tribulation period when this disaster occur. It is the last days of the so called “Abomination of Desolation.” That is a “woe” time for Israel. Pregnant woman and nursing a baby could slow you down in running away.
     D. Warning of the Winter Weather – v. 18
Mark 13:14- 18 “And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.”
→ The winter weather could slow you down instead of getting out fast that is why Jesus said we need to pray and hope that this scary event does not happen during winter.
→ Several reasons why people do not want this to tragic conditions happen in winter: It made your travel slow, and possible you left your coat may be in your house. People hunker down when there is a brutal winter. But, no more time to hunker down once the Antichrist unleashes his satanic attack against Israel.

II- ISRAEL WHILE IN THE TRIBULATION - (Mark 13:19- 23)
• The word “for” in verse 19 gives reasons why the Jews needed urgently to get out of Jerusalem.
     A. Tribulation will be like nothing has ever existed or ever will exist in the world. – v. 19
Mark 13:19 “For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.”
• This is unbelievable horrible prediction of crimes and times against Israel because there have been some terrifying things that have occurred in history in Jerusalem:
1. When Titus in A.D. 70 took his Roman army to Jerusalem, and killed 1,100,000 Jews and captured 97,000. Many Jews were crucified and ran out of wood for crosses. (According to Josephus)
2. Adolph Hitler was responsible for killing of 6 million Jews from 1939 to 1945.
→ There is one more horrible crimes and time that will occur based on Jesus prediction in our passage. This will be far the worse and nothing comes close to it to compare although Israel suffered much in past history. Scary isn’t it.
     B. Tribulation days were not time regulated, all Jews would be exterminated. – Mark 13:20
Mark 13:20 “And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.”
→ There is no day or time in history can compare to the time of Jacob’s distress, none as bad as this according to Jeremiah – Jeremiah 30:7
Jeremiah 30:7 “7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.”
→ The Jewish people see the so called abomination of desolation they need to move out fast of Israel.
Mark 13:22“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”
→ Here we can see again Christ warns the people of God Israel that there will be many “false Christ’s” and “false prophets” which possess Satan’s power to shew “signs and wonders” to seduce or convince them.
• While in Tribulation, Israel will be looking for help and Satan will use many false Christs and false prophets who will convince and aim to get their confidence. Jesus warns not to trust this satanic ministers.
→ These religious claimers are liars, deceivers and devilish promoter of Antichrist.
Mark 13:23 “But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.”
→ Here Jesus says that Jews needs to take heed of His words warning because He foretold you all things in advance. The real Messiah will not come from the earth but will come in the sky.
• Two things we see Israel will experience while they are in the tribulation namely persecution and deception.
• Jesus Christ taught them every sign, foretold them everything in advance. Now, we need to stay focused on what is happening around the world as we understand and believe the Bible about coming horrible events.

III- WORLD AT THE END OF THE TRIBULATION – (Mark 13:24-27)
• Jesus gives the outlines of what will occur at the end of the Tribulation.
     A. The Sun will be darkened – v. 24a
Mark 13:24a “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,”
     B. The moon will not shine – v. 24b
Mark 13:24b “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,”
     C. The stars will be falling from heaven – v. 25a
Mark 13:25a “And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.”
     D. The heavens will shake – v. 25b
Mark 13:25b“And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.”
     E. The people will see the Son of man coming in the clouds – v. 26
Mark 13:26“And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.”
→ This will be the moment when Christ comes with great power and great glory to take over the world. This description is recorded in Revelation 19:11-16.
     F. The Lord will send forth Holy angels to gather all His elect from earth and heaven – v. 27
Mark 13:27 “And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.”
→ Amazing to know the Lord gathered to be with Him when He returns those elect people on earth from the farthest end of the earth and there are the elect people in heaven from to the farthest end of heaven.
→ This is the time of the resurrection of all of Israel as they were brought to the land – Daniel 12:2. The Lord Jesus will brought all the Jews everywhere to share in this glorious moment.

With this horrible and scary eschatological prophecy we are so burden of many souls to be saved with the gospel. However, many people were confused and deceived by multitude of various religions that leads people away from the truth. Jesus Christ is the truth, He is the only one who can save sinners. No one can be saved by their good works, church ordinance, baptism, keeping of the law or ten commandment, church membership. Salvation is a gift found only and solely in Jesus Christ. Do not be deceived and fooled by the false teachers and traditions. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. – Acts 16:30-31.
