HOW TO BE SAVED friend, listen carefully.... FIRST: ACCEPT THE TRUTH THAT YOU ARE A SINNER The Bible says in Romans 3:10 "AS IT IS WRITTEN, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE: " No one is sinless and does not commit sin. Why? Because the Bible says in Romans 3:23 "FOR ALL HAVE SINNED, AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD:" Yes, you need to realize and see who you are before God. You will never get saved and could see the importance why Jesus Christ died for your sin that you desperately need of a Savior until you realize that you are a sinner. Bible says when a man dies, he/she can't go to heaven because they "COME SHORT OF THE GLORY GOD", and therefore they will not enter into the Kingdom of God. Who are those who can't get to heaven? The Bible says "FOR ALL". And why can't all get to heaven? The Bible answers "ALL HAVE SINNED". SECOND: ACCEPT THE REALITY THAT YOU WILL PAY YOUR SIN IN HELL The Bible says in Romans 6:23 "FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH;..." Since all have sinned so all have to pay their own sin and Death is the payment. According to webster dictionary DEATH means separation. Therefore, all sinners being spiritually dead are separated from God. The Bible says in Revelation 20:14 "AND DEATH AND HELL WERE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE. THIS IS THE SECOND DEATH." If there is second death or second separation there must be the first death or first separation. When a man dies, his soul comes out of the body so there is the separation of soul from the body which is the first death. Then once the soul separates from the body the soul that sinned goes to hell or lake of fire to suffer the eternal torment forever for the penalty of his sin(Romans 6:23). Therefore, there is the second death or second separation which is the separation of soul in hell from God which is in heaven. THIRD: ACCEPT THE TRUTH THAT YOU CAN NOT SAVE YOURSELF The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9 "FOR BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES:IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD; NOT OF WORKS, LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST." Therefore, man can be 100% sure of his salvation while they are still alive and that is through the grace of God apart from man's work (Romans 11:6). It is only through faith on the finished work of Christ{Way to heaven-John 14:6), and not through following Christ (Way of living). Heaven and eternal life is a free gift since Christ have already completely paid our sins 2,000 years ago so not need to do anything to be saved. Just trust Jesus Christ who died, was buried and was risen from the dead. The Bible says in Titus 3:5 "NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY HE SAVED US,"... Also in Galatians 2:16 "KNOWING THAT A MAN IS NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, BUT BY THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST"....Also in Acts 13:39 it says "...YE COULD NOT BE JUSTIFIED BY THE LAW OF MOSES". Let us have 3 Questions: first. WHO IS THE SINNER, MAN OR GOD? If your answer is man the next question is WHO NEED OF A SAVIOR? Man the sinner or God. You are exactly right if your answer is God, because 2,000 years ago God sent His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ who completely paid our sins. Thirdly, WHO FOURTH: HAVE FAITH (with Repentance) ON THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST TO SAVE YOU The Bible teaches that to be saved a person must "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ."
In Acts 16:30 the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas this crucial question: “What must I do to be saved?” The answer was simple and clear: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31). The one requirement was to believe on Christ. The Bible teaches throughout the New Testament that FAITH and FAITH ALONE is necessary for salvation and what God requires of a sinner. There are many passages mentioned that FAITH as being essential for salvation.
According to John 3:16 "FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE". This verse clearly says that you can be sure of heaven right from this very moment. It does not say MAY BE PERISH but SHOULD NOT PERISH. Also, it doesn't say MAY BE HAVE, rather it says BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. God does not want anyone to perish because the Bible says in II Peter 3:9 "THE LORD...NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE". Friends, right NOW you must depend, rely or TRUST Jesus Christ who died for your sins and third day risen from the dead, as God promised, you to be saved. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 "IF THOU SHALT CONFESS WITH THY MOUTH THE LORD JESUS, AND SHALT BELIEVE (means Faith) IN THINE HEART THAT GOD HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, THOU SHALT BE SAVED."
Believing in Christ is the sole condition for salvation and for receiving the gift of eternal life. But it does not mean that repentance is not essential for salvation.
There are those today who teach that repentance is not essential for salvation. They teach that repentance is not a requirement for salvation. They would say that faith and faith alone is required for salvation, but not repentance. Their main argument is based on John 20:31 which gives the reason why John’s Gospel was written: “These things are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life through His name.” They then point out that the word repentance is not found anywhere in John’s Gospel. They said, that if the Gospel of John was written so that people might have eternal life, and if John never mentioned repentance, therefore repentance must not be necessary for salvation.
However, repentance is essential to salvation and that none could be saved apart from repentance. Jesus said, "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish....I tell you, Nay, but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3,5). Our Lord's words are very clear: If you do not repent you will perish! Unless you wish to perish, repentance is essential! "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30). Repentance is something that all men everywhere are commanded to do! If you are a person living anywhere on this earth, then God has commanded you to repent. And if you don’t you will perish. Repentance is essential for salvation. “When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” (Acts 11:18). "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). This verse strongly implies that if a person does not repent, then he will perish. God does not want any to perish; God wants men to come to repentance. Those who do not repent will perish, even as Jesus taught in Luke 13:3,5.
Repentance was preached by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:2), by the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 4:17), and by the Apostle Paul (Acts 20:21). Repentance was proclaimed before Pentecost (Luke 13:3,5), at Pentecost (Acts 2:38), and after Pentecost (Acts 17:30).
Repentance is essential for salvation. If you don’t repent, you will perish. There is no salvation without repentance.
Repentance involves a change of mind. The Greek word for Repentance is “Metanoia” (met-an-oy-ah), Meta means change and Noia means mind. The word "repent" means "to completely CHANGE your MIND about something." When a person “repents he must first admit that he was thinking wrongly. Then he must change his whole way of thinking so that he begins to think rightly (to think as God thinks and to see things as God sees things).
Repentance is change of mind toward sin, self and the Saviour. Repentance is a changed attitude on the part of man. This is what takes place when he believes the Word of Truth as to his lost condition and need of a Saviour. Thus, faith and repentance are indissolubly linked together.
There is no salvation without repentance. "Faith and repentance are indissolubly linked together". Repentance and faith are two sides of the same coin. They are not two different coins. There are not two requirements for salvation; there is just one. There is one coin with two sides. The coin represents what a sinner needs to do to be saved. A sinner needs to repent and a sinner needs to believe. And you cannot separate true faith from true repentance; they are part of the same coin, and both are essential. If a person is saved, then he has repented and he has believed on Christ. If a person has truly believed on Christ then he has also repented. If you find true repentance, then you will also find true faith. Repentance is a necessary element of saving faith. There could be no real faith which did not include a change of mind about sin, self, Christ and God. The person who has truly repented has truly believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. The person who has truly believed on the Lord Jesus Christ has truly repented. So intimately are faith and repentance related that you cannot have one without the other. The man who believes God repents; the repentant soul puts his trust in the Lord when the Gospel is revealed to him. No man believes the Gospel and rests in it for his own salvation until he has judged himself as a needy sinner before God. And this is repentance.
