Introduction: The text says, "counteth the cost…consulteth whether he be able ”

I- THE TERMS FOR WHICH JESUS SOUGHT (Luke 14: 26, 27)
A. Jesus wanted FIDELITY TO HIS PERSON—v. 26 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.”
B. Jesus wanted IDENTITY WITH HIS PURPOSE—v. 27 “And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”

II. THE TASK TO WHICH JESUS SENT (Luke 14: 28- 32)
A. Jesus spoke of BUILDING (CONSTRUCTIVE WORK).—v. 28- 30
B. Jesus spoke of BATTLING (DESTRUCTIVE WORK).—v. 31- 32

III. THE TRUTHS OF WHICH JESUS SPOKE (Luke 14:33)
A. Discipleship means NO RIVAL to Jesus Christ— v. 26 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.”
B. Discipleship means NO REFUSAL to Jesus Christ—v. 33 “whosoever, he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”
