Introduction:
Paul started his letter to the Christians at Rome by describing himself in verse 1.
Then he tells them how that he became an apostle, and why in verse 5 to 6.
After a few words of greeting he then discussed to them that he indebted to and why:
Notice the words of the apostle, "I am debtor."

I- DEBTOR TO THE LORD

A Because of our faith in the Lord—Acts 9:1-6

B. Because of our forgiveness in the Lord--1Timothy 1:12-17

C. Because of our future to be with the Lord--2 Timothy 4:6-8; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

 

II- DEBTOR TO THE LOST

Romans 1:14; Romans 15:20

A. Compassion to souls—Colossians 1:28; Acts 20:31

B. Consistency in our soul-winning—Acts 20:31

C. Caution in our service—Galatians 1:9-10

 

III- DEBTOR TO THE LEGACY

Hebrews 12:1

Men have plowed the right path; they gave their lives to pay the price and preserved the pattern for us to live.  

A. Must Follow their procedure—2 Timothy 2:2

B. Must Forget our past—Philippians 3:13

C. Must Finish our path—2 Timothy 4:7
