EDIFIED IN THE FAITH
Colossians 3:16-4:1-6

Introduction: A man must be Spirit filled and obedient the Word of God in order to be edified in the Faith.
No believer can be filled with the Spirit until becomes obedient to the Word.
Edification in the Faith needs to be:
I. Dependent upon Scripture. (v. 3:16a)
A. Become rich in wisdom. (v. 3:16a)
Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly in all wisdom;
B. Being right in the Word. (v. 3:16a)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you,
Edification makes someone to be:
II. Delightful in Singing. (v. 3:16b-17)
A. Creates a teachable heart (v. 3:16b)
teaching and admonishing one another
B. Creates tender heart. (v. 3:16b)
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
C. Creates a thankful heart (v. 3:17)
giving thanks to God and the Father by him
Edification gives someone:
III. Direction by Submitting. (v. 3:18-21)
A. Produces Control in Relationships of Couple (v. 3:18)
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
B. Produces charity in the Relationships of Couple (v. 3:19)
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
C. Produces chastening in relationships with Children (v. 3:20-21)
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
Edification makes someone to become:
IV. Dutiful in Serving. (v.3:22-24)
A. Consistent Service as unto Christ. (v. 22)
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
B. Conscientious Service as unto Christ. (v. 23)
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
C. Committed Service as unto Christ. (v. 24)
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance for ye serve the Lord Jesus.
Edification results in someone to become:
V. Different in Speaking. (v. 4:1-6)
A. Speak differently unto servants. (v. 1-2)
Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
B. Speak differently as servants. (v. 3-6)
1. Speak of the grace of God. (v. 3-5)
that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
2. Speak with the grace of God. (v. 6)
Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
Note: The motive, manner, method, mode and the message that is different from the world.
Conclusion: A person who is truly edified manifests by his right relationships in dealing with different kind of relationships.
