THE LORD ADDED PEOPLE TO THE CHURCH

Acts 2:41-47

 July 15, 2009, SUN p.m.

Introduction:

  • The church in Jerusalem was at the peak of their revival (V.41)
  • We know the Lord is powerful that He can do whatsoever He desires however, sometimes He had done something in response to what we had done and what the church performs:
  • Now, how will the Lord add people to our church? Remember, there is a different between the crowd and the church. False religious groups and cults have speedily grown in large numbers of congregation but that is not what we want to tackle here. Again, how will the Lord add people to our church?

 Message:

I- THEIR REMEMBRANCE—V. 42

      We must continue steadfastly in:

          a. Doctrine

          b. Fellowship

          c. Breaking of bread

          d. Prayer

II- THEIR REVERENCE—V.43

Fear before the Lord must be ever present

III- THEIR RELATIONSHIP—v.44a

All that believed were together. Don’t be isolationist from your brethren. Be friendly and loving. Be the kind of person that is approachable and understandable.

IV- THEIR RESPONSE—v.44b

They have the cooperation in the church.  They submit to the authority of the local church.         They have one mind with the Lord. The Bible is their final authority and they all obey what the Lord commanded that has been preached from the pulpit.

 V- THEIR RESOURCES—v. 45

They gave their resources that the Lord entrusted them. They were generous and liberal in giving. They look for the opportunities to fill the needs.

V- THEIR REINFORCEMENT—v.46

They were united in the work of the Lord. “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple”. This church has a strong teamwork. The Bible says, “two is better than one”. The church would reach farther and accomplish more if some will not quit.

VI- THEIR REJOICING—v.47

They were happy people because of that, the people saw the difference in their lives (good testimony). Someone says, we need to talk with our lives rather than with our lips. Are you happy in the Lord as you serve Him, living with content praising daily in everything?

Conclusion:

God the Lord added …
