Colossians 2: 1-7

Paul’s give much attention with an effort of encouraging the Colossae in their walk with the Lord. The Colossian believer through Christ had everything necessary in serving the Lord and experiencing victory.

Paul knew that the church would endure until the coming of Christ.

These letter to the church at Colossae written by Paul thousands of years ago, continue to speak to us. These were purposely written for Fellowship, and the church at large.

The following are Paul’s exhortation to the church:

 

I. THE CONCERN OF PAUL TO THE COLOSSAE (v. 1-3)

A. The Activity of Paul (v. 1a) For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you.

B. The Association of Paul (v. 1b)for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

C. The Ambition of Paul (v. 2) That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

D. The Assurance of Paul (v. 3) In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

 

II. THE CONFIDENCE OF PAUL IN COLOSSAE (v. 4-5)

A. The Colossae Possibility to Fail (v. 4) And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

B. The Colossae Power of Faith (v. 5)

     1. Faith Endures Separation (v. 5a) For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit.

     2. Faith Enables Steadfastness (v. 5b)joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

 

III. THE CHARGE OF PAUL TO COLOSSAE (v. 6-7)

A. Paul Reminds them (v. 6a) As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord,

B. Paul Requires them (v. 6b)so walk ye in him:

C. Paul Resolve on them (v. 7a) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith.

D. Paul Reflects on them (v. 7b) as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
