THE FORGOTTEN PART OF THE LORD'S PRAYER
Matthew 6:5-13; Matthew 6:10

When Jesus said in Matthew 6:10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
It is what Hebrews 13:14 is talking about city we are seeking to come.
Hebrews 13:14 “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”
Songwriter Fanny Crosby writes “Blessed assurance Jesus is mine oh, what a foretaste of glory divine.”
Illustration: We are in this church, who sings heavenly hymns, who preaches heavenly message, who were attended by heavenly people, but this is not heaven, this is a church who will tell someone how to go to heaven.
Example: Does our church a foretaste of glory divine? Does our Sunday school class foretaste of glory divine? Does our business a foretaste of glory divine?
Like in heaven, we must have no social barrier in our church, in our family, in our employee.
The word “as it is” is a present tense. (Matthew 6:10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”).
We must obey now just as like the heavenly angels obeying God in heaven.
We must serve God now just as like the saints serving God in heaven.
In Romans 12:1-2, the word in verse 2 “transformed” is the same word used in Matthew 17:4 “transfigured” which Christ shew His glorified body.
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Matthew 17:4 “Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.”
We are supposed to be different from this world as Jesus transfigured. We should be transformed not conform to this world but live like when Christ was transfigured in His glorified body. We must live in Christlikeness while we are in this earth. “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
The word “abide” in John 15:4 “Abide in me, and I in you” is the Greek word “meinate”
The word “mansion” in John 14:2 “In my Father's house are many mansions“ is the Greek the word “monai” from meno which means a staying like in residence.
The word “abide” is same with “mansion” with the same Greek meaning to stay, to remain, to wait
Jesus is simply saying while He is preparing a mansion or place in heaven we must abide or stay like living in heaven now.
Illustration: While the father is in America and planning to petition later his wife and children, so his wife and children while waiting for the time of petition were practicing to speak English and eat American food and always wearing sweeter.
The entire purpose of Christianity is wrapped up in three (3) statement:
1. To get up to heaven – (salvation through soul-winning)
2, To get heaven to us – (build a little heaven here while we are on earth)
3. To prepare us for heaven – (so we will not at east but prepared in heaven)
Illustration: At Japanese restaurant located in the Philippines – we had Japanese atmosphere, we had Japanese foods, we had Japanese design, we had sometimes Japanese owner, we had sometimes Japanese waiters and personnel, but Philippines is not Japan but we bring Japan in the Philippines.
Illustration: When we visit the Nayong Pilipino for almost 3 decades from now, we saw a mosque of muslim. But Philippines is not in the middle east, but mosque was built in the middle east, and the mosque in Nayong Pilipino in the Philippines was built for a tourist and visitors was just an example of a mosque.
That is why our church can have and must have the music, atmosphere, work, kindness, love and service like that of heaven.
This prayer in Lord’s prayer helps us to prepare for heaven ““Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Elisha was not worry when his servants told him there are many enemies compassed the city both with horses and chariots. Then Elisha prayed to God to let these servants see the mountain that was full of horses and chariots of fire raised about Elisha.
II Kings 6:12-17 “And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. 13 And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. 14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. 15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
Likewise, we must practice that God is in our side and heaven kingdom is with us even in the midst of problems and trials in our life.
Amos listed down what God gives to Israel in order to return to God. God gives to Israel food, but they return not, famine but they return not, war but they return not, peace but they return not.
Hence, God said through Amos in Amos 4:12 “prepare to meet thy God, O Israel”. We Christians must prepare to get to heaven so that we will not be embarrassed when we get to heaven.
The Bible is silent and partly describing about heaven, like Paul said in II Corinthians 12:4 “unspeakable words.” However, there are several things basically we have to do in heaven.
We will serve God, so let us serve God on earth.
We will praise God or sing unto God so let us praise Him on earth.
We will worship and adore God, so let us worship God on earth.
We will do God’s will, so let do God’s will on earth.
The Holy Spirit controls the activity in heaven, so let us yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit. (So do not pray making excuses and says “Lord, you understand me why I have done sinful things because I am still living in the flesh.”
Ephesians 5:18 “be filled with the Spirit;”
Acts 7:55 “being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,”
Luke 4:1 “Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost”
Does the kingdom of God come in your place of work? In your schooling? In your home?
Conclusion: Let us show in our lives what heaven is like.
