I - BECAUSE THE DEVIL BLINDED ALL MEN - II Corinthians 4:4
II Corinthians 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
In this verse what is the name called for Satan? __________________________ (The word here “world” in Greek is Aiono's translated “an age”. This verse shows us that the devil blinded the minds of the people so that the glorious light of the gospel should not shine to these certain people. Read again the verse and tell us who are these people whose minds are blinded by Satan, the believers or the unbelievers? ________________ What is the word in II Corinthians 4:3 that describes these certain people who were blinded by Satan? _______ . Based on II Corinthians 4:3-4, do you agree that the devil want these certain people understand and believe the gospel? ____________ . (Important to know: The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died four sins, buried, and resurrected from the dead – I Corinthians 15:1-4). Please read Luke 8:4-5 and Luke 8:11- 12.
Luke 8:4-5 “And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.”
Luke 8:11-12 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.”
What are the two things that Satan does not want people to do that was mentioned in Luke 8:11-12? Check.
(  ) Give money to the poor people
(  ) Go to church
(  ) Read the Bible
(  ) Believe the Word of God
(  ) Share the Gospel
(  ) Draw a picture of Satan with horn and tail
(  ) Be good to people
(  ) Be saved
II– BECAUSE THE INABILITY OF UNSAVED BLINDED HIMSELF TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE – I Corinthians 2:14
I Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
In this verse we learned that it is impossible for the unsaved man to understand God’s truth because the unbeliever is blinded by his inability to understand what the Bible says.
Read John 14:26 then complete the verse in order to know who is the perfect Teacher that Jesus is talking about?
John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the ________    _________, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
Read John 15:26 then complete the verse to know the two names given to this Teacher whom Jesus talks about?
John 15:26 “But when the _____________ is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the _________   ____   ________, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:”
Note: The name “Comforter” mentioned in John 14:26 and John 15:26, in Greek “parakletos” which means “Helper.” Therefore, the Holy Spirit is the One who comforts, helps, encourages and teaches the believer.
In John 16:13, into what this Teacher would guide the apostles as Jesus had promised them? _________
John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
Read I Corinthians 6:19 then complete the verse to discover who lives and dwells in every believer.
I Corinthians 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the _________   __________ which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
Read Romans 8:9, then complete the verse, to know if a person really belongs to Christ, if he does not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within himself?
Romans 8:9 “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have ______   ____   _________   ____   ________, he is _________ of his.”
Read Romans 8:11 then complete the verse to find out who really dwells in every believer?
Romans 8:11 “But if the ___________ of him that raised up Jesus from the dead __________ in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his __________ that __________ in you.”
Read Romans 8:15-16 then complete the verse and know that the moment a person got saved, what did receive?
Romans 8:15-16 “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the __________ of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The _________ itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Can you now tell how many Christians have the Perfect Teacher, whose name the Spirit of Truth, living in them? _____________ .
TITLE: THE SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS OF ALL MEN
                TEXT: I Corinthians 2:9-16
1.) I CORINTHIANS 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
According to this verse, can we learn things of God by using our eyes? by using our ears? and by thinking and using our minds? __________________________ .
The words, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man”, this passage is quoted in Old Testament passage by Paul, Isaiah 64:4 “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.”. It is not quoted literally but the sense only is given. Paul here is proving man cannot understand the mysteries of God through his own senses (sight, hearing, understanding) unless God reveals them by His Spirit.
To say that the eye had not seen, nor the ear heard, was, therefore, the same as saying that it was not known at all. All people had been ignorant of what is written concerning the blessings of the Messiah’s kingdom. The words “neither have entered into the heart of man” means no man has conceived it; or understood it. It is new and is above all that man has seen, and felt, and known. No natural man hath either seen, heard, or known, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.
2.) I CORINTHIANS 2:10 “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
Check the correct answer, what is the only way a person can learn the truth of God?
(  ) by studying in theology for 4 years (Bible school)
(  ) by reading the bible and religious books
(  ) by revealing God’s truth to us by God’s Spirit
(  ) by meditating memory verses for long hours
(  ) by looking at the beautiful creation of God.
According to this verse, is everything about God and God’s truth the Spirit does understand? _______________
According to this verse, identify who really understands the deep truths and the deep thing of God? __________
In this verse, we learn that God reveals His truth to us by “_______   __________________” .
The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4), so as God, the Holy Spirit is all knowing or omniscient.
Look at the words “to us” in this verse. It is very important “God hath revealed them,” the things of I Corinthians 2:9 which man has never heard or perceived or seen, but “through the Spirit; “for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.” God’s wisdom must be revealed to man or man will never find it.
This verse says “God hath revealed”. The word for “revealed” means God has uncovered, has taken the lid off. God has taken the lid off this message. God has helped us to understand it. We couldn’t understand it apart from God. But God has revealed it in our life.
God’s wisdom cannot be dethroned by mere man. God’s wisdom cannot be discovered by mere man. It cannot be delivered by mere man. And it cannot be discerned by mere man. No man and no spirit of this world can take credit for God’s wisdom. It is a product of the Spirit of God who only lives in the hearts and lives of believers, giving them and all of us the mind of Christ, the ability to judge everything, to appraise everything through His Word and His Wisdom. That is the spiritual man.
3.) I CORINTHIANS 2:11 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
Is it possible for a man to know and understand the things of God without the help of God? ___________
According to this verse, who does know the things of God? _________________________
Please read Isaiah 55:8-9, then answer the question:
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
In this verse, does God’s thoughts and God’s ways are the same with the man’s thoughts and man’s ways? ______
What thoughts higher than man’s thoughts? ___________________
Please read Romans 11:33-34 then answer several questions:
Romans 11:33-34 “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?”
If the wisdom and knowledge of God are deep and rich, does the Lord needs a teacher? _______________
If we cannot search His judgments and cannot find His ways, is there anything that the Lord does not know? ____
If no one knows the mind of the Lord, then is there anything that you do not know? _______________________
If no one had been God’s counsellor, how about you, do you need a teacher? ___________________________
If you need a teacher, then who must this teacher be? __________________________________
Answer the sentences by true or false:
(  ) true     (  ) false  - I can understand the Bible on my own, and probably learn much more with the help of the Lord.
(  ) true     (  ) false  - It is impossible for me to learn truth about God’s Word and God unless God reveals it and teaches me
(  ) true     (  ) false  - I can understand the Bible truths by paying attention to the preaching of the Pastor.
(  ) true     (  ) false  - I will never really understand what the Bible really means unless the Lord shows me and teaches me.
(  ) true     (  ) false  - Without the Lord’s help, I can learn God’s truth.
(  ) true     (  ) false -  I can understand the Bible truths by using commentaries and concordance.
4.) I CORINTHIANS 2:12 "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."
This verse tells us that the moment the believer got saved, what does he received? _________________
Analyze this verse and learn the reason why God has given to us the Holy ______________ to be our Teacher because God wants us to ________________ the things that are freely given to us of God.
According to this verse, do you think that God wants you to know the truth of God?
Read I Corinthians 14:20, then answer the question.
I Corinthians 14:20 “Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.”
According to this verse, what does God want us to be in order for us to understand God’s truth, to be babies in understanding of to be grown up as men in understanding? ___________________________________________
5.) I CORINTHIANS 2:13 "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."
According to this verse, how do we learn the truth of God, is it by teaching of our own man’s wisdom or by the Holy Spirit teaching us? ___________________________. .
6.) I CORINTHIANS 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
The natural man here refers to unsaved person. This verse teaches us that all the unsaved people are spiritually blind about the truth of God. Please answer the following questions:
Based on this verse, can the natural man or unsaved man receive the truth of the Word of God? ______________
Based on this verse, can the natural man or unsaved man know and understand the truth of God’s Word? ______
In this verse, give that one word that describes what the unsaved man really thinks of God’s Word? ___________
Are you surprised if the unsaved man make fun at you or shows no interest when you share him the Bible? _____
Are you surprised if the natural man or unsaved man cannot really understand the Word of God? _____________
Before you become saved, did you understand the spiritual things of God or were you spiritually blind? ________

The Greek word that described the unsaved man in I Corinthians 2:14 “natural” (psychikos) is the same word translated in Jude 19 “sensual” or worldly minded (pyschikoi).
Jude 19 “These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.”
So, in the book of Jude, verse 19, that natural (sensual) man was described as the man who does not have the ________ .
From what we already discussed, who is the only person who can teach and reveal to us the truth of God? _____ .
Supposedly, if a person does not have the Teacher, can that person learn the truth? _________ .
Do you believe that the natural man or the unsaved man have the Teacher? __________________ .
Please read I Corinthians 1:18, and then answer some questions:
I Corinthians 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
Do you believe that the natural man or unsaved man understand what Jesus did for him on the cross? _________
In this verse, what is the word that describes what really the unsaved person thinks of the cross? _____________
Are you surprised if a person thinks you are a fool when you share that the only way to be saved is by just believing what Jesus the crucified Saviour had done at the cross? _____________.
Based on this verse, what kind of person who really understands the preaching of the power of the cross? ______
It is God who can only open the eyes of those spiritually blind people. The natural man or unsaved man is spiritually blind; thus, he cannot understand God’s truth. The spiritual eyes of a natural unsaved man can only be opened by God through the miracle of the new birth, the natural man must have spiritual birth to have spiritual life (John 3:3-5).
John 3:3-5 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
The moment an unsaved person or natural man is born again (by believing in Christ as Saviour) that person receives the Holy Spirit and become a newly spiritually born baby.
And now as a newly spiritually born baby, that person who got saved and received the Holy Spirit started to desire the pure milk of the Word of God, so that he might learn the Word of God and grown spiritually according to I Peter 2:2.
I Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
That is the moment in the spiritual life of that newly saved person, that the Holy Spirit is now his teacher.
7.) I CORINTHIANS 2:15 “But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.”
Who is that spiritual man in this verse? The spiritual man is the person who is a believer in Christ, saved who received the Holy Spirit and allows the Spirit to teach him about God and about God’s truth. The spiritual man, a believer, a person who is saved is a person who loves the Word of God (Psalm 119:97).
Psalm 119:97 “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.”
Complete the verse in Psalm 119:18, regarding constant prayer of a spiritual man, the believer, the saved person who can now understand God’s truth and who has now received the Holy Spirit as his teacher.
Psalm 119:18 “__________ thou mine _________, that I may behold ________________    ____________ out of thy law.”
