Give the name of the very first book in the Bible? ___________________
Give meaning of the name of the first book in the Bible? _____________________
Old English Genesis, first book of the Pentateuch, which tells among other things of the creation of the world, from Latin genesis "generation, nativity," in Late Latin taken as the title of first book of the Old Testament, from Greek genesis "origin, creation, generation," from gignesthai "to be born," “to give birth.” Thus, this word refers to the origin, the coming into being of, or the beginning of something.
The word GENESIS also is related to the word "generations" which we find throughout the book of Genesis--see Genesis 2:4; Genesis 5:1; Genesis 10:1; Genesis 11:10; Genesis 11:27; Genesis 25:12; etc.
Genesis 2:4 “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,”
Genesis 5:1 “This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;”
Genesis 10:1 “Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.”
Genesis 11:10 “These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:”
Genesis 11:27 “Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.”
Genesis 25:12 “Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:”
The book of Genesis tells us and answers how did everything come into being, get started, originate and begin. Truly, the book of Genesis is the book of beginnings.

It is very difficult to understand correctly all the subjects and doctrines in all the other Old Testament and New Testament books without the book of Genesis, because the foundation for every other book in the Bible can only found in the book of Genesis.

The Bible starts with Genesis the first book and ends with Revelation the last book the Bible. Every subject which begins in the Genesis the first book is finished in Revelation the last book. How everything began is found in Genesis and how everything will end is found in Revelation. All other books could not stand without foundation the book of Genesis and the building would not be finished without roof the book of Revelation.

VIII – ANSWERS WHICH CAME FIRST IN THE FIRST BOOK OF THE BIBLE

When it comes some difficult questions about origins, how and when life began only Genesis can answer for God does have the right answers but science does not have the accurate answers for all questions.

The Book of Genesis has all the answers to all questions:

God answers in Genesis chapter 1 on which came first: (Please check the correct answer)

  1. (    ) earth before sun           (    ) sun before earth
  2. (    ) sun before moon           (    ) sun after moon
  3. (    ) animals before plants   (    ) plants before animals
  4. (    ) life on the ocean after life on the land       (    ) life on the land after life on the ocean
  5. (    ) Birds before creeping things, reptiles                   (    ) creeping things before birds
  6. (    ) plants after sun              (    ) sun after plants
  7. (    ) egg before chicken        (    ) chicken before egg

There was a controversial question that puzzled lot of people. Did God first create an egg first or did God first create chicken. Take a look the clear answer in the book of Genesis.

Genesis 1:21 “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

God created all fully matured animals male and female and it says every winged fowl after his kind, and the egg has no winged. God does not create egg first. Obviously, God first made the hen and then the hen laid the eggs. Any person who does not believe and mocked the Bible find hard answering the question, which came first egg or chicken. The question that continuously looking for right answer is that if the egg came first, then who laid it? And if the hen came first, who hatched it? But Genesis answers God created full grown adult hen, so there is no problem. Indeed, the bible gives us the starting point so God started with the chicken then eggs came later.
We must conclude that the chicken came first. God made the chicken to bring forth the egg and God did not create an egg first.
In a similar way, God created everything in the beginning - the universe, animals and man (Gen. 1 and John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”). Naturalism, which says everything evolved naturally, by chance, with no direct creative miracle, lacks common sense, scientific facts, defies Biblical revelation, and also natural revelation (Romans 1:19-20 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”.

IX – SEED PLANTED IN THE FIRST BOOK OF THE BIBLE

We find that the book of Genesis is presented as the seed plot of the Bible. In the book of Genesis, the seeds are planted, then these seeds grow into big plants and trees in the other books of the Bible. As we study other books we leaned about these plants and trees, that means we learn about sin, about Satan, about the Israel nation and we also learned the promise of the Savior, but the seeds of plants and trees are contained in the book of Genesis. We watch these plants and trees grow but we see these plants and trees in the book of Genesis.

X – FAMILIES OF THE EARTH IN THE FIRST BOOK OF THE BIBLE

We also find families in the earth in the book of Genesis.
1. Family of Adam, we learned of this first family and Genesis shows us how this family become wicked.
2. Family of Noah, we learned of this second family, and Genesis shows us that all nations of the world came out of these three sons of Noah. (Genesis 9:19; Genesis 10:32).
Genesis 9:19 “These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.”
Genesis 10:32 “These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.”
3. Family of Abraham, we learned of this family from chapter 12 and in the next chapters and Genesis shows us out of Abraham the great nation of Israel came. (Genesis 12:2)
Genesis 12:2 “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:”

XI – FIRST PROMISE OF A SAVIOR IN THE FIRST BOOK OF THE BIBLE

In the book of Genesis, we find the first promise of a Savior (Genesis 3:15).
Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Genesis 3:15 explains to us that the promise Messiah who is the Savior will come from the seed of the woman and that Messiah, the Savior will defeat the Satan, the said serpent.
The line of the promised Savior can be found in the book of Genesis. Those people who were the ancestors of Christ the Messiah was recorded in the book of Genesis. As the book of Genesis presented the line of Christ, the Savior, we can see that in Luke 3:33-38. We learned that ancestors of Jesus Christ: Seth, Noah, Shem (Sem), Terah (Thara), Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Judah.
Luke 3:33-38 “Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda, 34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor, 35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala, 36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech, 37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan, 38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.”

XII – UPDATED ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS IN LIFE IN THE BOOK OF THE BIBLE

There are lots of questions from people about their origin, where they came from. There are some who believe on the evolution and there were some directly believe in Creation. Did man evolve from monkey animals? Or was man created by a powerful God? The origin of man was clearly, literally and plainly answered by book of Genesis. Genesis answers all these essential questions, theories concerning where man come from. Life is meaningless for any person who does not know the purpose why thy are here in this earth or where they are going. The book of Genesis helps us to understand and see the real reason why we live in this earth and purpose of all things in this world. Anyone who does not give importance to the book of Genesis and do not have time to study the book of Genesis do not really see the world they live in and they are even blind to the truth where they have come from.

As someone live in this world, the book of Genesis could help that person to understand of different concepts in life. In the book of Genesis, we can understand all about: family, wars, jails, nations, stealing, murder, different languages, sinful nature, death, soul, spirit, law, animal kingdom, disobedient children, parents, authority, missionaries, Savior, eternity.

XIII – BEGINNING OF MY SPIRITUAL LIFE AS A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE

As we have stated previously, Genesis is the book of beginnings. Therefore, let us personally aim to know about our own beginning. Your beginning, my beginning. Talking about man’s physical life, I learned that the Almighty God created me and that I came not accidentally. The book of Genesis told us that Adam and Eve were created by God long ago, and even then, God had me in mind before anything were created. Before the foundation of the world, before anything was made, God knew that there was a day I would be born physically. My origin in life was all in the perfect plan of a Sovereign, wise and infinite God. So, I believe that I dd not evolve from anything but that I have been created by a powerful God, so I was physically born many years ago.

How about the beginning of my spiritual life. I need to be born again. Every man must be born again (John 3:1-7).
John 3:1-7 “There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
If I was born again, then I am a new creature in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17).
II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
To be a new creature in Christ, therefore I have been saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
If I have been a new creature in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17) because I am been saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), so what purpose I have been created in Christ Jesus? (Ephesians 2:10) ______________
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Anyone who was born again, was saved by grace through faith in Christ as His Savior can now say,
"This was my spiritual beginning! This was the beginning of my life that has full of meaning. God made me a new creature in Christ with a purpose to glorify God. The God who created the heavens and the earth is the God who saved my soul! Because of God sent His Son Jesus Christ, who died for my sins and I have eternal life right now, and when I died, I will be with my God and Savior in heaven.”
